Industrial Scripts launches The 2023 TITAN Screenwriting Contest
The third year of the prestigious global screenwriting contest opens for submissions from writers and filmmakers globally, judged by a triumvirate of heavyweight Hollywood film and television producers and executives.
The 2023 TITAN judges are:
$3.85bn in career box office
(Credits include: John Wick franchise, Clash of the Titans franchise, Sicario franchise, Greenland, Wind River, Hotel Mumbai, A Private War)
Former Head of Amazon Studios, Europe
(Responsible for: The Devil’s Hour, The Rig, The Mad Women’s Ball, The Bad Guy, Anansi Boys as well as working on co-productions like Small Axe and A Very English Scandal).
Oscar-nominated movie producer
(Credits include: Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Cinderella)
In addition to the outright winners, genre category winners will also be announced, and these will range from Best Action Feature to Best Series Bible to Best TV Drama.
On the production side, the contest will also award a specific prize for the Best Diverse Script and Best Short Film Script, with the intention of aiding both towards production.
The three outright winners of The TITAN Awards will be announced in November and will receive: one year’s continuous script support; project-specific support from Industrial Scripts; marketing to the IS industry roster of executives, agents, managers and producers; a formal introduction to the three judges (who will also read their work); cash awards, software and more.
Open only to writers and filmmakers who have earned less than $50,000 from writing services in the preceding year, the contest will also award a special prize for the leading diverse script featuring underrepresented voices, and recognise the best “Wildcard” – one writer with obvious, if unvarnished, talent.
The company’s readers will assess the early rounds of the prize, before entrants are filtered down to the category winners. From these winners, Industrial Scripts will determine the Grand Finalists, and these three scripts will be submitted to Iwanyk, McIntosh and Moore for final evaluation.
After due consideration, the judges will exclusively determine the Gold-Silver-Bronze order of merit, and the prizes will be awarded in late 2023.
JOHN WICK Producer Basil Iwanyk commented:
“After judging The TITAN in 2022, it was a no-brainer for me to return. The quality, diversity and originality of the winning screenplays exceeded my expectations and it was great to connect personally with the winners over Zoom. Along with Shannon and Georgia, I’m excited to be partnering with Industrial Scripts once more to unearth some hidden screenwriting gems”.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Producer Shannon McIntosh said:
“I’m thrilled to be involved with this year’s TITAN awards because it’s a tremendous opportunity for fresh and exciting voices to find a platform to stand on and grow from…”
Former Head of Amazon Studios, Europe Georgia Brown commented:
“Alongside Basil and Shannon I am genuinely excited to be acting as a senior judge of The 2023 TITAN Awards. Championing fresh, undiscovered talent was a major priority for me during my time at Amazon and I couldn’t be more enthused to see which projects rise to the top of this truly global talent hunt”.
